New Car Make Alonso Confident Compete to Become The Champion This Season

McLaren has just launched its new car next season. Fernando Alonso was confident can compete again in the championship path.

McLaren launched a new car that they will rely on in Formula 1 2018 competition. The car that was named MCL33 came with a different livery.

For the first time in a McLaren history in F1, they will use Renault engines after three disappointing years with Honda. During that time, the best finish of Alonso only in fifth position five times.

Even Alonso has fasted victories in F1 since Brazil GP 2012 and McLaren never even finish the podium since four years ago.

Therefore with the MCL33 breathing new engine and also the atmosphere of bright colors, Alonso hopes his team's fortunes will change this season. Not just back to the top, the Spaniard is confident McLaren can compete with Mercedes GP and Ferrari to the championship ladder.

"It's an important moment for McLaren and after we have not fought in the championship for a few seasons, it's time to get back into that position," Alonso told Sky Sports.

"We have to make sure in pre-season tests to optimize this package, but I am so happy and very optimistic so far I think the team has done a great job in the last few months."

"It's hard to say at this time because nobody knows the strength of each, I hope McLaren can fight in the championship path."

"If not us then maybe Mercedes and Hamilton because they are the current world champions, they started as champions favorites, they are a team to beat and hopefully McLaren one of them," lid Alonso.
