Dominic Thiem Must Skip The Fallen Path in Acapulco

Dominic Thiem had to get through a tough first half of the first round to head into Mexico's 2018 Champions League second round match against Denis Shapovalov.

The third seed, Thiem was really sweating the sweat to score a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 win over qualifier from United Kingdom, Cameroon Norrie.

"It's a very difficult game, it should have been early in the second set, but I can not close it very well," Thiem said after the game, as quoted by the ATP official website.

"It lasted more than three sets, and a pretty big drama in the end, if I may say it," continued the Austrian tennis player.

Thiem had a 5-4 lead and the score also benefited him 30-15, but he made a number of forehand errors with ease, which made him lose his confidence a little.

"It should not happen, but yes, what can I do now? The important thing is that I win and that's all I like," he said.

Two years ago, Thiem made it out as the winner of the Mexican Open. And the title in Acapulco is the only championship trophy on the hard court that he won.
